High Tunstall College of Science is the first School in the Town to receive the bronze award which is recognised nationally.
The award is supported by the Childrens Society, has been led by Niamh Young Carer lead at the school said ‘we are delighted to have been awarded Bronze.
This is our first step towards achieving the silver and gold awards in the future. She added ‘the award took around six months to produce and put together since starting her role as inclusivity Learning Coach in June Last year’ Niamh continues to support young carers in school using information and notices boards and meets with young carers regularly to make sure they receive a good level of support in School.
Christine Fewster Hartlepool Carers said, ‘Achieving this award is something to celebrate and ensure our community can support in helping young carers living in our town’.
