Home > Carers Card/Emergency Plan
Peace of mind for unpaid carers
Carers play a vital role in our community, and here at Hartlepool Carers we feel your role should be valued and rewarded.
Hartlepool Carers Access Card has a dual role, it provides you to many discounts across the town and it also supports in planning for an emergency.
All carers registering with us are eligible for a card, which is valid for three years. Businesses join the scheme regularly and change their offers so please do ask in the venues for their latest offers.
On registration we will share with you how to apply for the Carers Access Card, and you will also be sent an Emergency Planning booklet.
The card is designed to be always kept with you, for example in a purse, bag, wallet, phone case or on a key ring. The card has details of the person who needs to be contacted if a crisis or emergency has occurred and you cannot provide care.
The Emergency Planning Booklet is for you and the person you provide care to, to complete at home and includes areas such as medication, behavioural issues, dependent children, likes and dislikes, all of which will help to put together a picture of how best to support your cared for if you are unable to.
It is important you share the location of the booklet with the person named as a contact in case they should ever need to step in while you are unable to provide care.
Please note:
Once you have applied for your Carers Card please allow up to 8 weeks for it to be complete and ready to collect or posted out to you. We ask if you have not received your card after 8 weeks to please contact us and let us know.
We are more than happy to discuss this further, please give us a call on 01429 283095.
