What happens when you take 3 Care Home Residents and 4 Young Carers to the beach for the day? Magic!
Running off the successful Christmas Carol Event and Easter Afternoon Tea Event the Young Carers of Hartlepool Carers and the Residents of Elwick Grange joined forces once again for a fun filled, jolly day at the beach. Thanks to Beach Access Northeast Hartlepool our Young Carers were able to help the Residents onto the beach with the use of the Free Beach Chair Service. They pushed the residents around the beach, everyone made sandcastles and played volleyball. They all reminisced and shared stories old and new with each other about visiting the beach as kids and everyone even got to drip their toes in the sea – something the residents don’t get to do often. After the beach everyone enjoyed chips and ice cream to end the day on a great note… it really was a jolly holiday!
Hartlepool Carers feels passionate about building and maintaining these relationships as it not only bridges the gap between ages, but it also reinforces that community sprit and helps form a bigger, better and stronger community too. It was a fabulous day had by all and we can’t wait to see where this wonderful friendship of Young Carers and Residents takes us – we’ll keep you updated😊
Hartlepool Carers would like to say a special thank you to the Young Cares who volunteered their time to come along, special thanks to Tori from Elwick Grange and a huge thank you to Beach Access Northeast Hartlepool who helped make this trip possible.
