Lidl launches new programme to help tackle hunger in local communities: and they’ve chosen to support us

In early 2020, 1.5 million people in the UK reported not eating for a whole day because they had no money or access to food, and requests for help from local charities and foodbanks have more than doubled. Lidl, want to support these local groups and help make sure no families have to go hungry in future. Working with Neighbourly, and with the help of their customers, they want to do more to help the communities we serve.

They’re aiming to increase the amount of meals they donate to their partner charities to 5 million each and every year. With your valued donations they can do even more to get support quickly and directly to the people that need it. Through this new campaign they’re launching a dedicated fund to provide crucial support to their network of local charities and community groups to help in the fight against hunger. Money raised through this fund will go to local good causes, from food banks to community centres up and down the country, quickly and directly. They know the hard work these groups do to alleviate the issues of poverty and hunger, but at this crucial time they need more help.

We are thrilled to announce that Lidl have chosen us as one of their local charities to support this year.

There are 3 ways you can help people in your community from going hungry.

1: You can donate by texting FOOD to 70007 to give £3 to local causes, or choose an amount to donate online by pressing the ‘Donate’ button above.

2: Donations will be distributed by the Neighbourly Foundation (charity 1189514). Texts costs £3 plus your standard network rate and 97.75% of your donation will go to local good causes tackling hunger.

3: Alternatively, you can pick up a flyer to donate an item of food in your local Lidl store, from 12th November. Each donation will then be matched by Lidl and provided directly to the store’s local food partner.
