What is a Young Carer?

We define a young carer as someone aged 5 -19 who carries out caring duties for someone close to them - siblings, parents, guardians and grandparents. This might include things like doing the shopping, carrying heavy things, looking after brothers or sisters, listening and emotionally supporting and dealing with money and bills.

What Does the Young Carers Project aim to do?

  1. Reduce the caring responsibility of young people.
  2. Improve emotional wellbeing of young people.
  3. Improve life chances of young people.

What Services do we Offer?

Referrals must come to the project from a Social Worker as all young carers are potential Children in Need and this must be assessed by a Social Worker.

Young Carers Team are happy to attend home visits with social workers. Please contact the office.
