Welcome to Hartlepool Carers

Hartlepool Carers was formed in 1994 by a group of local carers who, because of their personal experiences, knew of the limited support that was available to them.
As a result of their active campaigning and work with Hartlepool Voluntary Development Agency, three years Joint Finance funding was obtained in 1995 to establish an official carers support group. Great progress has been made over the past years and we now have premises at 19a Lowthian Road. The increased space has enabled us to expand the range of services offered and provide a welcoming environment for carers/ex-carers in Hartlepool. Our express aim is to contact carers in the town and develop services that will improve the carers quality of life.

Hartlepool Carers can offer support and information on issues connected with your caring role:

• Information and advice on local services, benefits, financial and housing problems
• Counselling and emotional support
• Health and social care
• Complementary therapies, including massage, reiki, reflexology
• One to one support
• Volunteer help with dog walking, gardening, DIY, sitting services, attending appointments, shopping etc
• Help with looking for employment, education and training
• Group social activities
• A quarterly newsletter
• Advocacy and representation
• A dedicated young carers team also offering a 'Think Family' support service

Mission Statement

Hartlepool Carers exists to improve the quality of lives of Carers throughout Hartlepool and the surrounding villages.
Through the provision of bespoke advice, information and support services.
Also by raising awareness of Carers’ issues locally, regionally & nationally.
Carers can be of any age and come from any social, ethnic or cultural background and will be treated with respect and dignity at all times.
